Basics of Caribbean Stud:
In Caribbean stud you are dealt a five card poker hand, and you play against the dealer?s five card poker hand. You don?t have to beat the other players at the table, only the dealer. Before you receive your 5 cards, you need to place your initial bet, which is called an ante. After placing your ante you will receive all of your cards, and the dealer will receive 5 cards as well, with one of the dealer?s cards being dealt face up. You will then look at your cards and decide if you would like to continue with the hand. If you decide that you have a good hand and would like to continue, then you will make an additional bet that is equal to two times your ante bet. For example if you bet $10 as an ante, you will bet an additional $20 if you would like to continue. If you decide to continue, then the dealer will flip up his cards and the winner will be determined. The highest 5 card poker hand will be declared the winner of the hand. If the dealer does not qualify (he must get ace-king or better to qualify) then you will win 1-1 on your ante bet, and you will not win or lose your additional wager. You should not play every hand of Caribbean stud for the second betting round. You should typically only play if you have at least A-K-Q or better in your hand.
